Workshop
A presentation outlining various aspects of my non-linear journey and how each reference point—both positive and negative—contributed to where I am today.

About Me
I have transformed my experience of depression and anxiety, into a children's book series that emphasizes the importance of self-expression and what I call the 3 C's: Creativity, Compassion, and Connection. Given the prevalence of mental health issues within our communities, I'm committed to using my skills to equip others with effective means of processing difficult emotions.

Welcome, Cadet! Creo needs your help exploring a new part of the star system Your mission is simple: use your sketchbook to create some drawings of the new planets you’ve discovered during your exploration. Aim for at least three different planets to spark your creativity! Don’t worry about perfection—think of your sketchbook as a visual journal where you capture your ideas through sketches. This will document your journey of exploration!Once you have decided which planet to share with Creo, you can click the button below to download a template for your final sketch. Feel free to invite your family to join in on the adventure! Below are examples of planets from other star systems to inspire you!As an added bonus, you can purchase a poster of your planet with a bonus video introducing your planet! Cosmic Upgrade!
Digital Render
Once you've completed your rough sketches and finalized your design using the template, the next step is to scan your artwork. To ensure the highest quality, scan your creation at a resolution of 300 to 600 dpi. Have a parent assist you with this step. If you don't have access to a scanner, no worries! Simply take a photo of your design, ensuring it's flat and the image is captured from above. After scanning, send your design to Creo! Email your artwork to info@soindifferent.com and await further instructions! Once the transmission is received, Creo will make a quick stop in the new star system to check out your planet. You'll also receive your very own digital download link, so you can show your planet to others! Below are some examples!

Thank you for your assistance with that transmission, Captain! I hope you made good use of your sketchbook. Remember, it's for capturing ideas—perfection isn't the goal.

The Great Discovery
A picture is worth a thousand words. These frames capture different points along my journey as an artist. Can you decipher the message? Each frame features an icon in the bottom right corner, symbolizing the main image. Along the bottom of each portrait, a story is hidden in the hieroglyphs. What do you see?
Portrait 1: A Longer-Lasting Flame

I thought completing and self-publishing two children’s books would make me happy. Honestly, it wasn’t something I was consciously focused on, but it was there in the background, like a little voice in the back of my mind. But guess what? It didn’t make me happy. I was caught up in this idea that I needed to achieve something to experience happiness, and unlearning that has been one of the hardest things. I’m not saying not to have goals; it’s what stabilizes us in our lives and gives us meaning. But ask yourself: whose goals are those?Throughout this process, I realized I was subscribing to someone else’s value system, someone else’s measurement of success. Like when people tell me to put my books and products on Amazon. While I understand the intent behind this, it’s not about the numbers for me: the sales are only a quick dopamine hit. That’s a short burn which leaves me chasing the next thing to fill the void. New products, more followers, more events, new ideas. So no wonder I felt burnt out. What I’ve found is that this definition of success is cheap and it doesn’t serve me.When it came to So Indifferent and The Fear Theory, it was never about the numbers; it’s about connection on an individual level. What truly fulfills me is being useful to others, especially when it comes to helping children and youth keep their creative spark alive in a world that constantly tries to snuff it out.
What does it mean?
This piece reflects the journey of choosing fulfillment over fleeting happiness. It’s about finding a longer-lasting flame—one that can burn steadily, continuously.
Portrait 2: Patience

So Indifferent gave me the autonomy to express creativity across various mediums. At its core, I just wanted to create.I used it as a way to push myself beyond my comfort zone, to explore life with curiosity. Despite the glaze of indifference that once shaped my perspective, I quickly realized it was never about not caring—it was about clearing space to care more intentionally. It gave me the chance to chip away at an outdated value system that no longer served me, while simultaneously building something that did. So Indifferent became my foundation, rooted in creativity, design, mental health, and community.
What does it mean?
In the illustration below, I wanted to capture a snapshot of the creative process. Whether it’s a blank screen or an empty sketchbook, the first step always requires action—a reminder that we have the freedom to create. It also speaks to patience, to the slow and deliberate work of chipping away at the parts of ourselves that no longer fit, revealing something new in the process.

My Mission
I start each workshop with a presentation detailing different aspects of my non-linear journey and how it brought me to my current work. I delve into the origins of The Fear Theory as a project and share my entrepreneurial journey, starting with just an idea and a sketch. My aim with the workshop is to help children and students better understand how to tap into their imagination and creativity, enabling them to express themselves beyond the constraints of words.
Description
In this 3-step process, students will design their own planet using a sketchbook. They will be tasked with completing a series of at least three mockups before moving to the template. Once completed I will collect and transform each template into a digital render available for download. By encouraging the use of a sketchbook, my goal is to help students better understand their thought processes and feel more comfortable exercising their creativity. More importantly, they will learn that they have the power to shape the life they want, with the understanding that making mistakes is an essential part of the journey.Below are examples from past workshops.
Objectives
• Students will be challenged to create their own planet or creature and develop a conflict that requires resolution, possibly as a group task
• Using their imagination, they will come up with creative solutions to their conflicts
• The goal is to educate students about the significance of creativity, without the use of technology
• Aim to assist students in becoming comfortable with making mistakes, understanding that it is a part of the process
• Each planet is imperfectly perfect, with different characteristics. The true beauty lies in how each planet complements one another in the class galaxy
March Break Wellness Seminar - Access Alliance Danforth

Students will be provided to with a template which will be later scanned and transformed into the digital render below.

While my goal is to help children reclaim quality experiences without relying on technology, we must be practical. Recognizing that phones are a part of their daily lives, creating a wallpaper allows them to see their designs in a real-world setting. It serves as a reminder that everything begins with an idea and a sketch.

Bringing the point home was creating a larger poster that showcases all their unique designs. Regardless of style or method they have a place in the my universe. It offers them a world they can continue to explore and discover, whether through a sketchbook or a journal.
Holy Rosary Elementary School

Teacher - Testimonial
"I've NEVER seen my kids so engaged, as I did with Chad. His sharing of his personal journey and his calling and work really inspired and left its mark on my kids; many of whom also deal with the same thoughts and feelings. The connection was clear, and everyone seemed to really enjoy our two sessions together. The Grade 8's loved that we were able to have two afternoon sessions with him, as much of our opportunities so far seem to be a one and done. The energy in the room and excitement for work (and to impress Chad with doing their best) was clear. He had quite the effect on many of the young men in my class. Our first day introduced us and had us listening to him, his personal journey and gaining exposure to his work portfolio. The 8's found this fascinating! We made our own planets; most of my kids took this task seriously and dove into it. They really enjoyed his sharing of his working process, work samples, and the technology he used during his creation process. In fact, their only critique was that they wished to have more time with him to investigate such creating tools (e.g., photoshop) with him.Our second day brought with it their planet sharing, story time with Chad and then an even closer look at how he includes additional details into his work. Each student was asked to create an image that would then be transformed into a smaller scale hieroglyph. Not that we needed any more energy in the room, but trivia indeed brought it! This experience is one that many more would enjoy. My Grade 8's absolutely loved his visit and would welcome him back in a heartbeat! I think this is a great and valuable experience for any student, especially those in junior and intermediate grades. It's been two weeks since his visits and yet they are all still talking about him!"– Miss McMahon (Grade 8 Teacher)
Student Testimonials
"Chad gave my class a good experience. He allowed our class to be interactive with his work as well as sharing about his past and current mental health issues. This allowed my class to connect closer to him. Chad Hopson shared his journey of creating his book Fear Theory-the Stone which is one probably many to come in the fear theory series. I would like to thank him for all he's done."
– Annelise
"Chad coming to our school was a very fun and enjoyable experience for us. He made his story for us very entertaining and engaging by sharing his own personal connections with us and getting us involved with his questions and activities. I know people in our class can connect and related with his inspirational story and his personal struggles with mental health. I am very happy."
– Julio
"Sir Hopson was really passionate and engaged about the things he spoke about. The energy and vibe he gave off made the experience more interesting. I like how he shared his life experiences. It showed the authenticity about him. The experiences he shared with us showed how hard work pays off and good things take time to happen. In the future I do hope he visits our school again, as well as many other schools, too. His visit inspired me and hopefully others too in different forms of art."
– Abigael
"When I first heard that we were having an artist come to our school and letting us create our own planets, I didn't seem to be interested in it. That was until Chad began to speak. You can tell that he has a passion for creating books and he wants to put his work all around this world. Chad is a good guy, he gave our class an excellent experience. He had some conversations with my classmates about random things and he even showed us his concept arts for his book "The Fear Theory." Chad shared with us that he had social anxiety and that he couldn't speak in front of his own school. Now, he goes to countless schools sharing his story to many different children."
– Matt
"The experience I had with Chad was great! He told us about his journey overcoming his social anxiety and his other fears, which was inspirational. He also has a very cheerful and uplifting personality. I feel that made class more comfortable around him and allowed us to connect with him more."
– Michaela
"MR CHAD HOPSON, where do I even begin ??? Chad is a very positive person, he's nice, funny, and inspirational, because he overcame his fear of social anxiety. He is so creative about his book and his merch and doodling's. It was fun having Chad here at Holy Rosary. Thank you, Chad for this opportunity."
– Evan
"I didn't get much time with Chad, but from what I know, Chad is an outgoing, cheerful person. When sharing his book Fear Theory: The Stone, I noticed how detailed and beautiful his world is. It's really inspirational to see someone create such beautiful things. Although I'm not an artist, Chad makes me want to strive to do the best I can in the things i do."
